Why did the AF1 Low White become rare?

You’ve no doubt also noticed that, for some time now, it’s been becoming increasingly difficult to buy Nike Air Force 1 Low Triple White; or at least, it’s no longer possible to find them on the market as easily as it was possible to find them until recently, online or in store that is.

We asked ourselves why this sudden scarcity and discovered that there are two plausible hypotheses: one practical and the other marketing.

According to the British news agency Reuters, the first hypothesis could be attributed to the fact that Nike is suffering the consequences of Covid-19, where several Nike factories in Vietnam have closed, halving production of the iconic model.

However, this reason could be more than plausible if it affected more Nike models, not just the AF1 Low White version.

The second, purely marketing motivation sees the Beaverton-based brand deliberately limiting the production number of the iconic trainer in order to increase its value in the market.

Born in 1982, the Air Force 1 is celebrating its 40th anniversary, becoming in fact the flagship product of 2022: hence the desire to drastically reduce its production, limiting consumers to the purchase of the colours following the OG version, triggering a ‘race’ to purchase the original model, especially by purists of classic trainers.
